Midland Rotary Foundation

The Midland Rotary Foundation is a separate 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, established in 1977 so that Rotarians could make tax deductible contributions that would benefit the Midland area  community. The current $900,000 endowment allows the MRF to donate $35,000 to $40,000 in scholarships and grants each year, mostly benefitting disadvantaged youth. The MRF has its own Bylaws and an eleven member Board of Directors (drawn from the Midland Noon Rotary Club) that meets four to six times each year to evaluate applications and award grants.

International Initiatives

Responsible for identifying, prioritizing, selecting opportunities, and then organizing the Club’s implementation response including funding and staffing. These projects are aligned with Rotary International’s priorities and include polio eradication, improving water and sanitation, and vocational training activities.

Community Needs

The Community Needs Committee manages the application and approval process for grants up to $3000 for Midland County youth-oriented projects that might otherwise fall through the cracks. These grants are designated for area clubs or organizations with a 501(C)3 tax exemption status and made to support specific one-time needs. Requests should demonstrate a broad and diverse community-wide impact and must be sponsored and reviewed by a Midland Rotarian. Applications are reviewed quarterly by the committed, but can be submitted any time.

Scholarship Fund

The Midland Rotary Foundation Scholarship Committee is composed of a chairman and six members. The purpose is to publicize, provide and receive applications, and select the recipients of the various scholarships. The scholarships provided by the Midland Rotary Foundation are:

  • William Dixon Scholarship - three awards at $1,200 each

  • Herbert H Hardy Scholarship - two awards of $2,500 each

  • C.A. Campbell Scholarship - one award of $1,300
