Watershed Clean-Up

  • 751 West Adams Road Sanford, MI, 48657 United States (map)

Partnering with Little Forks Conservancy and the Midland Morning Club, we will work together to clean up an area in Sanford affected by the flooding. With Rotary cleanup projects throughout our District and all those in the Great Lakes watershed, we will engage Rotary family and friends for a 'Day of Action' to draw attention to our fragile environment and our desire to be part of the solution. Please join us in this day of service!

This cleanup will take place from 10:00am – 4:00pm and involve the removal of debris that was placed on a Sanford property after the May 2020 flood. Some of the debris is very large, heavy, and dirty, and will need to be disassembled and hauled out of the property. Please note that this cleanup will take place on uneven terrain, in the woods, and in (potentially) muddy areas. Volunteers will need to wear appropriate clothing such as long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed work boots or work shoes. Masks will also need to worn during the cleanup event. Waivers will be available to sign at the worksite and will need to be completed before any work begins. Young children should not plan to attend as the terrain and work can be unsafe for them.

The Rotary Club of Midland will arrange for a dumpster and toilet area at the site as well as gloves and contractor trash bags for smaller trash/debris on the property. There will be an area for food and drink for volunteers, and COVID guidelines will be followed.

Please contact the Rotary Club of Midland Club President at midlandnoonrotary@gmail.com to sign up as a volunteer.
