Rotary at Midland Blooms

SAVE THE DATE! Midland Blooms will be back again for 2024 with planting day on Saturday, May 18!

Carlos Uribe, who chairs the Committee for our club, will have more information as we approach planting day. Sign up to reserve your planting spot HERE!

More about Midland Blooms: The Midland Business Alliance has coordinated the program since its inception in 1989 with the assistance of a volunteer committee comprised of community members and business representatives, as well as City staff members. The program typically brings over 500 community residents and businesses together for a one-day volunteer service project planting flowers on Midland’s Eastman Avenue corridor providing community ownership residents can be proud of as well as community beautification. This year, a mix of purple petunias will be planted along the two mile stretch down Eastman Ave. from Dilloway Drive to Buttles. This is a modification from the traditional planting area due to road construction.

A Longer Table Event | Benefitting Grove Park

Register Here: https://www.drinkliveoak.com/product/longer-table-event/475

A Shared Meal, Music, Coffee & Conversations... This Longer Table Event is an opportunity to come together with fellow neighbors, community members, non-profits and advocates for improving both the wellbeing and accessibility to parks and recreation for everyone. The Midland County's vision statement is “together, forward, bold an exceptional place where everyone thrives.” Erin Patrice of The Breaking Bread Village will lead us in a conversations about neighboring and how to ensure we are building communities where everyone thrives. Iris Mehler, of 2 Moms No Fluff and a committee member of The Access to Recreation group will be sharing her personal stories of she & her daughter’s lived experiences navigating life as a quadriplegic and providing valuable insights on how we can do even better in meeting the needs of the persons with disabilities community. Midland Noon Rotary members along with Midland Parks and Rec, The Midland Area Community Foundation & Memorial Presbyterian have worked together to raise funds for Phase One of the Grove Park revitalization plan. Our beautiful Grove Park is so much more welcoming and safe with all of the improvements including an enclosed play are, new basketball courts and a lit Promenade. It will be on this lit Promenade that community members are invited to share a meal together to connect, learn from one another and learn about more ways they can be involved in caring for, contributing to and stewarding the gift of Grove Park. Phase Two of the Revitalization will include a fully accessible restroom facility. With grants & donations from community members, these restrooms will go beyond the minimal ADA requirements and provide a Changing Places facility. A few years ago, a resident at the master planning session said, “This neighborhood is where young families live when they first come to town and where they learn to love Midland. We at Live Oak, affectionately call the Midtown area, the heArt of Midland. With its vibrant murals, walkability and approachable community, Midtown and Grove Park showcase the power of a group of citizens coming together with dreams and visions to make things better for everyone. “When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence” is the quote that has inspired us at Live Oak and this shared meal benefitting The Grove Park Revitalization Fund, is just another way we can do that. So will you join us? Join us in breaking bread together, listening, learning and growing in ways we can love our neighbors in practical and tangible ways.

Cost: $50
